Notes

On on the submitters copy of vinyl single, the labels for the A and B side have been misplaced on opposite sides. Don't know if this is a general, serial og singular case of misprint.

  • ★★★★★★ From time to time you find a true gem that reminds you why collecting 45's is great, and the little known "Something's Gonna Happen" single is just that. As truly romantic, energetic and catcy as any early Beatles, british invasion or Buddy Holly top hit record - and then only to be found on an obscure 45. Or at least it was. Recent compilations has offered a wider chance to get a listen to one on pop's least likely non-hits, but for some 20 years this release was one good case for trying to win 45 RPM souls from the Lp- and CD people. As catchy as "I wanna hold your hand" or "Well, allright" the song should have made Crenshaw at least a 1-hit wonder. It didn't. Not even close. The closest this brilliant song creator got to recognizion was when his "You're My Favourite Waste Of Time" was adopted by more famous artists. The song did do Crenshaw some good though. As part of a session for Alan Betrock's Shake Records in NY, though never released in the US, the demos got Crenshaw a record deal with WB that led to the release of his handful of fine 80's Lp's. And still "Something's Gonna Happen" did get a release, though only in small numbers in UK on the Albion label, making a very fine 45 RPM for collectors to find. An explanation to why Crenshaw didn't make it really big? He always was a misfit in time and genre. Though rich on song quality, in early 80's "Something's Gonna Happen" after all was 60's revivalism when that ism was no biz'm.
